Gun Lake Casino planning $100m expansion project

New plans are in the works for Gun Lake Casino of Michigan. The facility has announced a $100 million expansion project that will bring new dining options to the property along with entertainment and gaming space. Preliminary site work has already begun, and the project should be completed by next summer.

The Gun Lake Tribe will be adding 76,000 square feet of casino space with the new addition. The space will include 450 new slot games along with 12 table games. A larger space will also be provided for non-smokers.

The expansion will be made at the south end of the building, increasing the current entertainment area Stage 131 by fifty percent. More seating will be adding along with an outdoor patio and new dining option. Gun Lake will also be home to two new upscale restaurants once the expansion is complete.

Gun Lake Casino president and chief operating officer, Sal Semola, commented that a careful and detailed process was completed to understand how to best serve the needs of current guests. High priority elements include enhanced dining, gaming and entertainment amenities.

With the new amenities, the guests of the casino will be able to enjoy new experiences as the casino continues to work on creating a premier entertainment destination in the western portion of Michigan.

The announcement of the $100 million expansion comes just one month after Gun Lake Casino announced a partnership with Grand Rapids Community College to create a new Blackjack Dealer Academy. With the new academy, a learning opportunity for jobs available at the casino will be on offer.

Students can enroll in the academy and earn certification with a guaranteed position at the casino provided after an audition is passed and gaming license obtained. The casino already offered free on-site training, which will continue, along with the new community college training option.
